Stair Spindles

Stair spindles, often referred to as ‘balusters,’ are important in ensuring that the banister of the staircase is supported. They are positioned vertically in-between the handrail (located above the spindle), and the base rail (located below.)

Wooden spindles that we offer are most commonly pine or oak. We also offer white primed spindles. Our spindles are ready for painting or staining to suit your needs and/or tastes.

Spindles may be a structural addition to your stairs; however, they are also decorative with plain, colonial, imperial and chamfered options available. Spindles create an elegant finish whilst offering various safety benefits. We have a range of colours and styles available to choose from. Some examples are oak and pine for wooden stair spindles, and brushed nickel, steel, chrome, and black mental for metal spindles.

How many spindles for stairs?
For most stair spindles, you can apply a rule of thumb: allow 2 stair spindles per tread.
