Celotex, a Saint Gobain brand, was founded in the early 1920s as a fibreboard insulation enterprise and helped popularise the use of fibreboard and plasterboard as viable construction materials, which was an uncommon practice at the time. Throughout the twentieth century, the corporation extended its product line to include a wide range of building products such as roofing shingles and siding. As a result, asbestos was added to numerous Celotex items, which are made of a heat-resistant substance, in order to make the products fireproof.
